API proxy

miken79 6 years ago updated 6 years ago 1

Instead of implementing a few one off API calls how about implementing an API proxy? Such a proxy could be used by other systems instead of talking to Tesla directly. Then we could leverage the sleep abilities you've built to prevent greater vampire drain by only having 1 system talking to Tesla.

An example would be my home automation system. Instead of polling Tesla directly, causing 2 systems to keep talking to my car, I'd just poll against teslafi. I could retrieve the cached information from teslafi and do more advanced automation of my vehicle without incurring a bigger battery cost. Teslafi could return cached information when another system is asking for data and actually make the data calls when another system is asking to turn something on/off.

It could even be expanded out to only allow another service to do certain calls if one were so inclined. So that certain data could be shared but the car couldn't be unlocked/started/etc..

Myself and others would pay an extra monthly fee if...

Myself and others would pay an extra monthly fee if you could alert me when my windows or doors are open for XX or more minutes while parked / idle!. (user sets XX)

Helpful if left open by accident, and when fob activated door inadvertently while in my pocket!

Also alert me if Fob in car for XX minutes while parked/idle! Wife left purse, I left keys in jacket ETC ETC. The Tesla app erroneously reports that the car is locked when it is not. Anyone could get in and drive off!!!!!!

Car not sleeping since 2019.24.4 73fb1ab installed on 25/07/2019 9:40 AM

twyningtesla 5 years ago updated by anonymous 5 years ago 41

I have been a TeslaFi user for almost 2 years and rarely had any issues.  I do not believe that this issue is related to TeslaFi, but want to see if any other users are experiencing it.

Since installing the above update, the car will not sleep.  I've tried extending the length of the "try to sleep" window, and even disabling polling for a day, but the car remains awake always.

Sentry mode is not enabled, Always Connected is set to OFF and Energy Saving is set to ON.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Suggest a "PAUSE ALL POLLING" button on main page

Silicon Desert 6 years ago updated by Zippy114 6 years ago 1

I know there is a "Logging Enabled" checkbox in the settings, but it is a binary on/off feature.  What I am asking here is that for occasional testing purposes and hiding locations or other data, to have a quick ability to temporally stop ALL polling of any kind to the car, without having to go back in later to turn it on in case we forget.

example might be "Pause polling for 1 hour" and "Pause polling for today".

While at it.  I suggest some additional description under the settings checkbox for "logging enabled".  It is not totally clear if turning on/off that checkbox applies to all polling of any type, or just the capturing of data.   In other words, if unchecked, does TeslaFi still poll the car to see its status without waking up?

Really nice work here folks.

weird sleep pattern: car will be woken up after ~5-50min of sleep

lewurm 4 years ago updated by Mrklaw 3 years ago 79

Since 12/12/2019 my car only goes into sleep for a quick nap. It almost never sleeps longer than 50min anymore, wakes up for apparently no reason, and then goes into sleep after 40-45min again. First I thought it would be connected with the 2019.40.2.1 update. I reset my Tesla password and generated a new token for TeslaFi, so I would be sure that no other third party app (and even Tesla's app) doesn't interfere. That sleep pattern still showed up, so I contacted Tesla because I thought the car wakes up for some reason on its own (as I stated above, I thought it was connected with the update). However "Tesla Virtual Service" confirmed that the wake up reasons are due to a third party app. Since TesalFi was the only application at this point with a valid token... it must be TeslaFi. It is a bit surprising to me because there isn't anything visible in the raw data feed (e.g. an intended wake up call). Is this a known issue?

Here an example from 12/27/2019

adding a missing drive?

pfg 5 years ago updated by James 10 months ago 3

Hi,

Is there a way to "manually" add a drive?

I forgot to enable polling and I'm missing the very first drive from the service center.

Thanks

New Leaderboard List: Superchargers Visited

I'd love to see a leaderboard on TeslaFi for number of unique superchargers visited.  This would mirror (and help TeslaFi members participate in) the Tesla Motors Club thread at https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/superchargers-visited.28193/.

Controls Tesla via IFTTT Webhooks

fesfsef 7 years ago updated by raphaeldavid 5 years ago 6

Hi James,

With EVMOTE it had the option of adding webhooks, where I could send a POST (Text/Plain) request to my car via IFTTT, similar to your TeslaFi API access I presume but with controls.

e.g.  https://www.evmote.com/ifttt/5f8242b1-7b4a-4fa3-a83b-33eaf683b29f/honk would honk my Tesla horn. I could then add this to IFTTT so if my Nest smoke alarms went off the car would honk etc.

Do you think that would be possible to add to TeslaFi?

Thanks Will

Total high-rate charging

StefanSarzio 7 years ago updated by James 6 years ago 12

I would like a statistic for the amount of high-rate charging. I guess > 22 kW would be a good definition of 'high-rate'.

I would like to see kWh, number of charges, time of charging.
