Home Assistant Integration

ibgeek 3 months ago 0

Home Assistant is quickly becoming the primary home automation choice.  The software has 10's of thousands of integrations to date and is growing rapidly.

What can you do with this integration?
Essentially you assign a data source as an entity (device) in Home Assistant.  Then you can run automations using those entities.

Example: When cabin conditioning is started, home assistant would see that it started and start monitoring it.  Then when the car gets to temperature, an automation can fire that would send text-to-speech "The car is now at the desired temperature" to your phone.    Think Kitt talking to Michael on his watch.    There are nearly limitless automation options.  And they are simple to set up.

TOU Rate Management and Filtering for Tesla Charging Data

Andrew S 3 months ago 0

I would like the ability to set and store TOU rates for various time periods and holidays, making the data more accurate without having to manually update the rates every time they change. This feature would allow me to retroactively correct historical data based on rate changes or seasonal shifts, ensuring consistency and accuracy.

Features:

1. TOU Rate Storage: The ability to store multiple TOU rates for different time periods, seasonal changes, or holidays. For example, rates could be entered for each year or season (e.g., summer, winter) from November 2019 to the present.

2. Historical Data Adjustment: When TOU rates are changed or edited retroactively, the historical data would automatically update to reflect these new rates, ensuring that past data is accurate based on the correct rate at the time of charging.

3. Charging Data Filter: It would be helpful to have a filter to split and view charging data according to TOU rates, without altering the raw data. For example:
- Charge 1 (November 2, 2019 from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm):
- 4:30 pm - 5:00 pm (Mid-peak rate): Charging data displayed for this period.
- 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm (On-peak rate): Charging data displayed for this period.
- 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm (Off-peak rate): Charging data displayed for this period.

This breakdown would allow me to accurately account for electricity usage in different TOU periods, making it easier to deduct Tesla usage from my home electricity bill for tax purposes as a self-employed individual. It would also streamline the process of exporting and analyzing charging data by rate and time period, reducing manual work.

Why are US Highland Model DMs showing with LFPs?

NCJayG 5 months ago updated 4 months ago 10

There are several Highlands in the US that are reporting as: 3 Long Range DM LFP you can tell they are Highland's as they are HW 4.  But as an owner of Highland M3 DM I know there's not an LFP battery in that car.  Now we also have Highland RW LR too.  Can you please get the models clarified?  Right now, I show as no other cars in the US are configured like mine, and I'm betting that's not the case, they've just been mislabeled. I've marked mine has Highland M3 Long Range.

Please correct the options for the Highland.  Thanks!

Dear team,

my car Model Y LR RWD is not listed on TeslaFi.

Could you kindly add Model Y LR RWD?

Thanks a lot

Merge more than 2 charges (e.g. overnight 'Intelligent' charging slots from electricity supplier)

ZOD77 10 months ago 0

I'd like to be able to merge several (e.g. 4) overnight charges that are separated by non-charging periods. These are being scheduled by my electricity supplier as part of a smart tariff (Intelligent Octopus Go in the UK). I can't seem to merge more than two individual sessions, and can't merge an individual session with an already merged session.

This seems to be possible for 'drives', so I hope is easy to setup for charging ones.

More and more electricity suppliers now support these intermittent charging tariffs, so it would be good to see this supported.
Even better would be the option to merge all overnight charging automatically, and also across the evening and into the next morning.

API Login Fail

Bowlen 11 months ago updated by aselim 11 months ago 31

Just started getting this error in the past couple of hours.

Haven't reset any passwords or anything like that.

Answer
James 11 months ago

It looks like Tesla just flipped the switch to move to the new official API.  You should see a new notice under the TeslaFi logo with instructions to switch to the new API.

We have also just sent an email to all users with the same instructions.

If you don't see the notice and things are not working you can also disable 'Legacy API' in settings->account->advanced and then navigate to settings->Tesla account and click on authenticate with Tesla to connect.

If you are experiencing any issue please open a support ticket in help->open a support ticket.

Auto tag on Location Naming page

kevinkeenan 1 year ago updated by James 1 year ago 0

Would it be possible to add an auto tag section to the Naming page? It would make the process for my business use a lot easier.  Right now, I have to go to the naming page, name the location, then go to the auto tag drives, scroll through the long list of client names, find the right one and then setup the auto tag.  It would be awesome to have an AutoTag tab on the Location Naming page. :)

Capturing Energy Used During Battery Preheat and Cabin Preconditioning

indigex 1 year ago 0

I have noticed that my Model Y uses utility power when preheating the battery and preconditioning the cabin. I have it set to precondition by 6:30 AM. As far as I can tell, the energy usage is as shown below though I'm not sure what's happening while it's drawing power.

Image 5639

TeslaFi captures the energy used while charging great. It just doesn't seem to capture the energy used during the preconditioning. Is that data available through the Tesla API? Can we get the kWh used in TeslaFi?

Thanks for considering this!

PSA: TeslaFI Logs Saved Me $20K!!

clearwave1 1 year ago 0

I have been using TeslaFI for a few years now. In May of this year my big battery died on my 2015 MS 85D 3 days after the warranty expired.

Tesla initially gave me a bill for $20K to replace the battery. Not cool just 3 days out of warranty.

I had noticed that my range had dropped over the winter months but didn't do anything about it as I assumed that Tesla had changed the range calculation as they have done many times before.

I pulled up my TeslaFI charging logs and it showed a history of degradation over a few months. I sent this info to Tesla and after about a month, corporate approved a replacement battery under warranty.

GO TESLAFI !!!
