Multiple cars

Hi James,

I am trading my Model X and buying a new Model X. How do are archive my data for the old and start data on the new? IE switch the account over. If you have already addressed this just steer me to the answer.

would you consider changing up the app to support multiple cars on the same account?  I would assume you will see a huge uptick in these questions as repeat tesla buyers warranty's run out :) ..

Some screens are bogus when you have data from mutliple cars - like the  battery report.

How about moving this question to the knowledge base? That would make it more accessible for users.

FYI, when the new car was added to my Tesla account, TeslaFi started collecting data for it in the existing TeslaFi account. I've since added a new TeslaFi account, but is there any way to get that data from the old account to the new account?

Hi,

No, the state numbers (drive, idle, sleep, charge numbers) would not match up with the new account.

What does TeslaFi do if you have two cars? I haven't seen any VIN selection interface, or anyone comment on the experience?

If there are more than one cars located on your Tesla.com account an option in settings appears to select which car ID to monitor.  From there you can setup multiple TeslaFi accounts to monitor each car.

Hi James. I am new to TeslaFi. I have two Teslas. I have found the option to select which car ID to monitor. Though when I switch cars and save settings the top of the display is still showing the first car?

You mention that "from there" you can set up multiple accounts. From where do you mean - could not see this on the settings page? I assume I do not need to have and pay for two separate subscriptions?

Many thanks in advance for your help with this.

Excellent. I will take your advice and open a new account and have my subscription transferred once I get the new car in a month or so.

Thanks again,

You wouldn't have to pay for two accounts.  The old one would still be there just not actively logging so no subscription would be needed.  I would transfer your subscription to the new account so it can actively log the data.

You can use the same account but some of the reports will display funky data since the different energy usage and battery capacity.  I would suggest a new account.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks,

James

Hi James,

Thanks for the response, I am still a little confused.

If I do what you suggest do I need to keep and pay for 2 accounts even though one is inactive? If I could keep the inactive account without payment and pay for a new one with the new car that would be great.

Actually just letting my first car data and the second roll into the same account would also work for me. But they are substantially different cars: 90 vs 100 and AP1 vs AP2 etc. Will that work?

I would like to keep the old data and accumulate new with the new car but am open to whatever you think will work best and easiest on your part and does not require payment for 2 accounts.

I really love your program, thanks again for all the hard work.

Hi

If you would like to keep the data separate from the existing data you can open a new account.  Before you get the car you can create a new account and send me an email so I can transfer the subscription to the new account.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks,

James
